COVID19 Impacts on Enteric Pathogens in Canada

The COVID-19 pandemic had an impact on the reported rates of various enteric diseases. This seminar will explore the trends experienced in Canada during the acute phase of the pandemic from March 2020 to December 2020 for select enteric pathogens.

Russell Forrest joined the PHAC Outbreak Management Division in 2020 as an Epidemiologist, after previously working for the Division through the Federal Student Work Experience Program while completing his MSc at the University of Guelph (Guelph, Ontario, Canada). Russell is also a Ph.D. student at the University of Toronto, currently enrolled in the Epidemiology program at the Dalla Lana School of Public Health (DLSPH) (Toronto, Ontario, Canada). In addition to applying traditional epidemiological techniques to detect and investigate clusters of enteric pathogens, his research interests include the application of artificial intelligence and data science methods to help solve intricate epidemiological problems.
